Terms of play

Last updated 24 October 2026 (creator cash-out; fair money: cosmetics, creators). Version 2026-10-24+cashout. By creating an account, or by accepting these terms in the game, you agree to these terms and the privacy policy.

Who can play

You must be 18 or older. One account per person; keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.

Cedi Coin

Cedi Coin (CC) is game credit. It isn't a bank deposit or electronic money, and it can't be withdrawn, exchanged for money or taken out of the game, with one exception: creators can cash out what they earn as creators, under Creator cash-out below. CC you buy, are sent, win or are given has no cash value and can never be cashed out. Don't buy or sell CC, items or accounts for real money; we close accounts that do. New players get a welcome gift of CC to start their life in the city.

Sending CC to other players

You can send CC to, and request CC from, other players inside the game. Transfers can't be reversed, so only send to people you know: nobody from Life in Accra will ever ask you for CC. The welcome gift can't be passed on; you can send CC you've earned or bought. There are daily limits on what you can send and receive, and new accounts must wait a day before sending. We may reverse or block transfers that break these terms.

Top-ups

Prices are shown in Ghana cedis and include all fees. Payments are processed by Paystack (mobile money or card) on the web, and by Google Play in the Android app. CC is added once the payment is confirmed. Top-ups are limited to GHS 500 a day. If you were charged and didn't receive your CC, or were charged twice, contact us within 30 days for a refund. CC that has been used in the game is not refundable. CC you buy can be spent in the city and at fair prices straight away, but can't be sent to other players for 48 hours. If a top-up is refunded or charged back, its CC is taken back; any of it already spent is owed and taken from what you earn or top up next, and until it's repaid you can't send CC to other players (buying at fair prices still works). The refund policy has the details.

Nothing random for money

Nothing you pay for gives a random reward: no loot boxes, spins, mystery packs or gambling. Everything you pay for says exactly what you get before you pay.

Fair play and cosmetics

Real money buys Cedi Coin, which every player can also earn by playing. The Style shop and the Accra Pass's premium track are looks only: clothes, paints and colours, with no needs, pay, skills, rank or votes. Money never buys votes or election help, and the Rich List ranks net worth less the CC you bought yourself (all the Cedi Coin you have bought with cedis is taken off). CC someone else bought and sent to you counts as yours. See Where your money goes.

Creators

Players who design clothes earn Cedi Coin when other players buy them, and local artists earn Cedi Coin from a capped daily pool when established players listen to their tracks on the in-game radio. Creator earnings arrive as Cedi Coin and spend like any other. Creators can cash out the part of them that the rules below allow (see Creator cash-out). We may hold back or reverse earnings that come from fake accounts, self-listening or other abuse.

Creator cash-out

Creators can be paid in Ghana cedis for what they earn as creators. These are the creator payment terms (version v1-2026-10), also shown in the game under Creator earnings › Cash-out:

Payouts are sent by our staff to your mobile money wallet. A payout is our reward for what you made for other players: it isn't wages, and it doesn't make you our employee or agent. You must give true details; we may close the cash-out, refuse or reverse payouts, and keep any CC in question while we look into it where details are false or the rules are broken. We may change these rules or stop cash-out, and we'll tell you in the game first: earnings already cashed out stay paid, and requests already sent still settle.

Real-world adverts and events

Business owners may advertise a real business they own or are authorised to promote, and players may list real events. Adverts must be truthful and may not promote betting or gambling, investment or money-doubling schemes, loans or forex, medicines or herbal cures, alcohol or tobacco, weapons or adult services. We may hide adverts that break these rules or are reported, and we are not responsible for third-party businesses or events you contact.

AI in the game

Some characters in the city reply using an AI model, and an AI helps us review how the game is going and write the in-game city news. AI replies are generated automatically, can be wrong, and are not advice. Don't share personal details with characters in the game.

Behaviour

No harassment, hate, threats, scams, impersonation, cheating or exploiting bugs, or sharing other people's personal details. Report anything that's wrong from the game. We may warn, mute, suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and remove content (names, chat, adverts) that does.

The game changes

We keep improving Life in Accra: prices, wages, places and features can change, sometimes automatically to keep the game's economy fair. We'll tell you about important changes to these terms in the game; continuing to play after that means you accept them.

Closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time. Any CC, items and property in the game are lost when an account is closed (paid CC already used isn't refunded). Creator cash-out requests not yet sent are cancelled; a payout already sent still arrives.

Liability

The game is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and your progress safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses or for the value of anything in the game. Apart from creator payouts made under the creator cash-out terms, nothing in the game has a cash value. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by Paystack or the mobile money networks, but a payout that fails gives your CC back. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Ghanaian consumer law.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. If you have a problem, contact us first (Tell us in the game, or email support@lifeinaccra.com) and we'll try to sort it out.

Local artists' music and copyright claims

Players can submit their own original music for the in-game radio. Each creator confirms they hold every right in the track and grants us a licence to play it in the game; staff listen to every track before it plays. If you hold the rights in a track playing on Radio Accra Music and didn't allow it, tell us: report the track from the car radio, or email hi@blacheinc.com with the track's title and artist, what you own, and how to reach you. We take a track down as soon as a claim looks genuine, the file can't be uploaded again, and an account with two tracks taken down can no longer upload music. Withdrawing a track takes it off the radio; a track shared under CC0 or CC BY stays under that licence, which can't be withdrawn.

Places

The map is based on OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Real place names are used to describe locations; businesses in the game are created by players or run by the game and are not the real businesses at those places.
