| What | Why (legal basis) | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: email, date of birth (to confirm you're 18+), display name, password (only as a salted hash), the terms you accepted | To run your account (contract); the age check (legal duty) | While your account is open; wiped at once when you delete it |
| Phone number, if you verify one (for invite rewards and posting on the Gist) | Contract; preventing fraud (legitimate interest) | While your account is open; wiped at once when you delete it |
| A scrambled print of your phone number (a keyed hash, invitePhoneHash) when an invite reward used it | Stopping one phone claiming invite rewards again and again (legitimate interest) | Kept after the account is deleted (the number can't be read back from it) |
| Sign-ins: the internet address and device name of each sign-in, a scrambled print of the address and browser, and a scrambled print of the app's install id | Keeping your account secure; spotting several accounts on one device for invite rewards (legitimate interest) | Until the sign-in expires (30 days unused) or you sign out; all deleted with the account |
| Play: your avatar, where you are in the game, what you buy, earn and send, your businesses, homes, boats and parties | Contract | While your account is open. Money records are kept after (below) |
| Game activity: what you do in the game (shifts, trips, purchases, visits), used for story goals, festival challenges and the city's tips | Contract | 30 days; deleted with the account |
| Chat: street chat, direct messages and group messages | Contract; safety (legitimate interest) | 30 days, then deleted (kept longer only when reported, until a moderator has looked). What a deleted account wrote reads "[deleted]" after 30 days |
| Notifications in your inbox | Contract | 90 days; message notifications (which say who wrote, never what) 30 days |
| Voice reports: the last ~60 seconds of audio the reporter's game heard, sent with a voice report (below) | Keeping voice safe (legitimate interest) | 30 days after the report is closed (kept while it's open, as evidence: a year at most); 180 days after a moderator acted on it |
| Where you're from, if you pin your street: the district and street name. Others see only the district, and only if you turn on "Show where I'm from"; friends see the street too only if you turn on "Show my street to friends". Players you've blocked never see it | Your choice (consent) | Until you clear it (You → Where you're from) or delete the account |
| Moderation: reports you make or that are made about you; for a banned account, scrambled prints of the internet address and device it used | Safety; stopping banned players coming back (legitimate interest) | Reports while needed for moderation; ban prints 90 days after the ban |
| Analytics: which screens you open, how actions go, sessions, device model and frame rate | Only if you turn it on (consent): You → Settings → Analytics. Off unless you do | 30 days, then only daily totals. Turning it off deletes what was kept |
| Errors and frame rate without your name or device (everyone) | Keeping the game working (legitimate interest) | 30 days, then only daily totals |
| Feedback you send through Tell us | Legitimate interest | 180 days |
| Adverts and events you publish (name, text, picture, phone number, website) | Contract | While they run; a deleted account's are taken down, and its billboard pictures and text deleted |
| Payments: amounts, dates and payment references (never your card details or mobile money PIN) | Accounting and fraud prevention (legal duty) | As long as tax and accounting law requires, also after the account is deleted |
| Creator cash-out identity, only if you ask to cash out creator earnings: your full name as on your Ghana Card, your Ghana Card number, your mobile money network (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money) and wallet number; staff decisions on it | To pay you (contract); to check the wallet is yours and stop one person or wallet being used by several accounts, preventing fraud and money laundering (legitimate interest, legal duty) | The Ghana Card and wallet numbers are sealed (encrypted) and only ever shown masked (GHA-*****6789-0, 024*****67), to you and to staff. While your account is open. When you delete it, the sealed numbers are deleted; the masked copies and scrambled prints of the numbers (keyed hashes, which can't be read back) are kept so the same card or wallet can't be used on another account without staff review, and your name is kept only if you were ever paid (with the payout records below) |
| Creator payouts: each cash-out request, the CC and cedis, dates, the name and masked wallet it was paid to, the payment reference, and staff decisions | Accounting, tax and fraud prevention (legal duty) | As long as tax and accounting law requires, also after the account is deleted |
| Push: your phone's or browser's push address | Contract (only if you allow notifications) | Until you sign out on that device, or it stops working; one unused for 30 days can be taken over by another account on that device |
Talking to game characters: what you type to a character is sent to the AI model to write its reply and isn't kept by us afterwards.
Guest accounts: if you play as a guest, we keep your date of birth and game data, but no email or password. A guest account unused for 30 days is deleted the same way. If you create an account from it, you keep your progress.
Voice chat is for players 18 and over, and only after you've read and accepted this notice in the game: voice isn't recorded, except when someone reports abuse: then the last ~60 seconds the reporter heard are sent to our moderators, with who reported, who was reported and which room. The audio is recorded on the reporter's device, so moderators treat it as the reporter's evidence. Clips are kept for 30 days after the report is closed, or 180 days after a moderator acted on it, then deleted; while the report is still open they're kept as evidence (a year at most). When either player deletes their account, the clips are deleted too, except those on a report still open (kept until it's closed, then the same rules) or one a moderator acted on (kept for the 180 days). The voice itself goes through LiveKit's servers and isn't stored there.

You can: get a copy of your data (You → Settings → Export my data, once a day: a file of your account, profile, transactions, inventory, the messages you sent, your posts, reports you made, notifications and sign-ins, and your creator earnings, cash-out identity (masked) and payouts); correct it; delete your account (You → Settings → Delete account, or on the web); object to or restrict what we do with it; withdraw consent at any time (analytics, where you're from) without affecting what was done before; and take it to another service (the export is a standard JSON file). Ask through Tell us or by email; we answer within 30 days. If your account is banned or suspended, you're told why and can appeal at support@lifeinaccra.com. You can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission (or, in the EU or UK, your own data protection authority).
